A few nights ago, we were taking care of Cousin Baby Grace, because it was Aunt Colleen’s birthday and she and Uncle Drew wanted a night on their own.
The girls were fascinated with their little cousin. They cooed and baby-talked and tried to give her toys to play with. They were mesmerized with the little Baby.
And that’s when it hit me: my girls aren’t babies any more. It’s been in the back of my mind for some time, but it takes a while to sink in: when they are old enough to be fascinated with babies and pretend to take care of them, it shows you that they are not, themselves babies.
