Building a back porch

what it looks like tonight: just a few more steps, and filling in a few gaps, and we are done!

One of the first things people notice when they visit is our back yard.  It’s true- our yard is pretty spacious (for the part of the city we live in), and it’s shape in a way that really envelops you and makes you feel cozy.

For that reason, we’ve wanted to make a porch in back ever since we moved here.  This summer, 3+ years after moving here, is the first time I’ve felt like we’ve had the mental space to make that actually happen.

Opa came over for a few days and helped us dig out the yard (see below), pour sand/ Gravel for a base, and start laying the stones.

Tomorrow, Opa comes over again and we finish.  Stay tuned!
